Understanding the Dynamical Brain
To truly understand the function of our brain, it is critical to investigate the brain as a complex dynamical system. We have developed multiple techniques to characterize brain dynamics, including
- Quantifying dynamical complexity of EEG signals in patients with Alzheimer's disease
- Assessing neural adaptability via EEG analysis in healthy elderly adults
- Revealing the brain's adaptability and the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation to inhibitory control
- Quantifying brain complexity with BOLD MRI image time series in health and various diseases
Currently, we are developing new causality analysis to quantify human brain network. We are also investigating the nonlinear coupling between different "modes" of EEG oscillations based on the EMD algorithm.
